South cinema's top directors!

Yogaraj Bhat (Kannada)

With the unprecedented success of Mungaru Male, Yogaraj Bhat has become the hottest Kannada director.

Though his first film Mani won three state awards, it was not a commercial success. However, impressed with the director's work, actor Sudeep chose Yogaraj as the director for his film, Ranga S.S.L.C. Though Bhat had to make compromises in the script to suit the hero, the end result was that the film was a commercial success. It is another matter that the critics tore the film to pieces.

After a while, he came back to direct Mungaru Male with Ganesh as the hero. Till then Ganesh had only acted in small bit roles. Other than directing, Bhat wrote the story, script, and also three songs and shot the film mainly in Sakleshpur terrain when it rained.

The film went on to become the biggest hit in the history of Kannada cinema and the rest, as they say, is history.

Ganesh became the 'Golden Star' and Yogaraj Bhat, the 'Hottest Director'.

Now, the magical duo is back with Bhat's latest offering Gaalipata where the filmmaker is reported to have charged Rs 1.50 crore as remuneration, which covers direction, writing story, dialogues and screenplay. He has also written lyrics for two songs of the film.
