South cinema's top directors!

Gowtham Menon (Tamil)

It is a fact that none can make a thriller the way Gowtham Menon does. He is one of those young filmmakers who can market his films as 'A Gowtham Menon' film.

He was one who directed Kamal Haasan so early in his career as well as in Vettayadu Vilayadu. Even when Haasan acted in it, the film was marketed as a Gowtham Menon film. That is the biggest success of the young filmmaker who watched Nayakan when he was a just a school kid.

Menon's first film Minnale with Madhavan and Reema Sen in the lead was a huge success. But it was with his first cop film Kaakha Kaakha that the director truly arrived. The film was a huge hit and made Surya a big star.

The sequel to KK was Vettayadu Vilayadu where the cop was around 40 years of age. Menon's plan is to make the third in the series with the cop just before his retirement.

But for every hit there is a miss, and the one which didn't do well was his last film Pachaikili Muthucharam with Sarath Kumar and Jyothika in the lead.

Yet this one miss fail to affect the stock of the director. His new project Varanam Aayiram with Surya in the lead is an eagerly awaited film.
