Between his different renditions of Wolverine, Jackman has demonstrated a remarkable talent for excelling wherever he goes and whatever he does.
After a major role in Swordfish with Mel Gibson and Halle Barry, there was Kate & Leopold, a 2001 romantic comedy, where Jackman starred opposite Meg Ryan. For his efforts, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, but he ultimately lost out to Gene Hackman (The Royal Tenenbaums).
From there, he transformed into a vampire slayer, as Gabriel Van Helsing, in 2004's intensely gory Van Helsing. The film was panned by critics, but it grossed $300 million worldwide and perhaps cemented Jackman as a reliable action film hero.
All the while, Jackman continued to act on-stage, winning a Tony award in 2004 for his part in the musical The Boy from Oz.
In addition, he hosted the Tony awards in 2003, 2004, and 2005, proving to be a more than competent event host and MC. He even took home an Emmy award in 2005 for Outstanding Individual Performer in a Variety, Musical or Comedy programme in 2005 for his work on the 2004 Tony awards.
