Though a Sydney boy, Jackman first made it as an actor in Melbourne in the mid-1990's, where he performed in several plays and musicals. From there, he began to appear in Australian films and television shows, even winning a few awards for his work.
But it wasn't until 1998, when he played Curly in a London production of Oklahoma!, that Jackman garnered international recognition.
His real breakthrough came in 2000, when he was cast as the famed Wolverine in Bryan Singer's X-Men. His performance connected with audiences and critic alike, and he was quickly tagged to reprise the role in the future. We've since seen 2003's X2: X-Men United, 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and now eagerly anticipate 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
