Macbeth, widely considered Shakespeare's most enduring tragedy, is a tale of murder, revenge, guilt and moral ineptitude. No wonder it translates brilliantly when taken in a Bollywood context.
Vishal Bhardwaj's masterful adaptation took the characters into a gangster-movie backdrop, setting up Pankaj Kapoor as a Godfather-istic baddie and replacing the three witches with a couple of amateur fortune-tellers, played by Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri.
