Swayamkrushi (1987)
Chiranjeevi continued to act in films with good directors and good story lines. Swayamkrushi by noted director K Vishwanath was another example where Chiranjeevi showcased his acting talent.
Vishwanath as a director is known for his meaningful movies. Here, too, he extracted from Chiranjeevi a brilliant performance as a poor and illiterate cobbler (Sambaiah) who makes it big in life (from almost rags to riches) and finally goes back to his humble profession.
Giving him company in the 'transformation' is Ganga (Vijayashanti). In fact, Sambaiah looks after his nephew and educates the orphaned Sharda (Sumalatha). The film did not fare well commercially but won critical acclaim for Chiranjeevi and added another feather to his cap as an actor.
