Aaradhana (1987)
A Telugu remake of Bharatiraja's Tamil film Kadalora Kavidaigal, Aaradhana had Chiranjeevi in the role of Puliraju, an illiterate small-time rowdy who mends his ways after meeting a school teacher (played by Suhasini).
The movie is all about Puliraju's transformation and his love for Suhasini. A simple story with nothing much new about it yet Aaradhana was full of emotions touching the chord in the audience.
Chiranjeevi depicted both the characters -- the rowdy and the transformed character -- brilliantly. In fact this movie was not one of those regular commercial entertainers as it was devoid of fight and dance (as Chiranjeevi was known for) and Chiranjeevi was more or less riding the crest wave of success but he chose to act in it to showcase his versatility as an actor and he succeeded in proving it.
