Any particular reason why you thought of Surya? ?
As a matter of fact, I had narrated the story of Kana Kandein to him then. I wanted him to do Prithviraj's role but he said he wouldn't do a negative role. He was ready to do the hero's role which I didn't want him to.
Actually I asked Madhavan first whether he would do the role Prithviraj did. Then I approached Surya, Vikram, and then Prashanth. All of them said no to the offer.
It turned out to be a turning point in Prithviraj's career in Tamil...
I knew it would happen. That was why I wanted actors like Madhavan, Vikram and Surya. If they had accepted the role, the film would have had more stress on that character.
But this time, Surya was willing to do Ayan....
Yes. We were shooting the TVS ad when I told him about the film. One day, after the shooting was over, I just narrated the script to him. I still remember the setting; it was a full moon day, and we sat near a lake and talked. I didn't even ask him to do the film; I was just telling him the story. But this time he wanted to do the film. Then, I narrated the script to Harris Jayaraj.
I can tell you one thing, you will see a different Surya in the film; he will make us laugh!
