It took you a long time after Kana Kandein to direct another film...
I made Kana Kandein in the stipulated time. I had planned for a May release and I released it exactly on the day as planned.
The film was a critically acclaimed hit and I got a few offers. Writer Subha sat for twenty days and developed this story for Ayan.
We were about to start the film when the offer to shoot Sivaji came to me. I was so immersed in my film that first I said 'no' to the offer.
That day, when I returned home, I told family that I declined an offer to shoot Rajnikanth. All of them got so angry with me that they didn't talk to me at all that day. So, the very next day, I called Shankar up and told him that I would shoot for Sivaji.
As you know, Sivaji took almost two years in the making. I simultaneously worked on the Ayan's script while shooting Sivaji.
