Most people would jump at such an offer; didn't you want to be an actor?
No, acting was never on my agenda. Before Tere Mere Sapnay, I was a stage choreographer. I'd been performing and choreographing theatre musicals for about eight to 10 years. Dancing has always been my passion.
When Joy offered me the role, I told him that I was happy where I was. However, he was adamant. He told me that the moment he saw me he knew that I would make it big as an actor. So he stuck with me until I agreed to do the film, and I'm glad he did.
After the moderate success of Tere Mere Sapnay, your career went downhill. Why do you think that happened?
Simple. I did some terrible films. Like I said earlier, initially I didn't want to be an actor. I had no idea how this industry worked or who were the good directors or banners. I would just take on any script that came my way and I paid the price.
Most of the movies bombed and eventually, I stopped getting offers. So I did some travelling and went to Europe.
Then Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II came along. That was the turning point for me. Immediately after that, I was offered Circuit's role in Munnabhai.
