Name: Anaitha Nair (Aliya)
How has the newfound fame affected you?
It's hasn't had much affect on me. I'm still the same girl I was before Chak De. The only difference is that I'm a lot busier now. I attend a lot of events and openings.
What's next for you?
I'm in Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein, along with John Abraham. I shaved my head for this role as I play a cancer patient. It's a dramatic film with light moments.
Doing this movie is a dream come true. Sudeep Chaterjee, the cinematographer for Chak De, has had a long working relationship with Nagesh. Sudeep suggested me to him for the role. I auditioned and got the part. I shot the film between June to July. It should release in January.
Besides films, what else have you been up to?
I did a couple of ads post Chak De -- I'm in the new Fruiti ad. I'm the girl who looks like a boy from the back (laughs).
What do you make of the fans' reaction to you and the film?
There are varied reactions from fans -- some are too shy to approach so they start singing when they see me. Some approach to confirm if I'm that girl from Chak De. Then, they go running back to tell their friends.
