We wanted a young actor as the story required a young man. What we liked about Arya was that he has a kind of casualness about him which is very rare to see, and our hero has to be totally chilled out. He is not a typical hero, a wastrel who likes to spend his time racing and not caring much about his family but a charmer. He is also the guy whom you will see on road.

Your film is on autos, auto drivers and auto racing. Naturally the film has to be shot on the roads. How did you manage?

We shot the entire film outdoors. No sets for us. It was not a nice experience, rather tough because the minute you put the camera, people come around to see the shooting. The moment Arya and Pooja landed, there would be 1500 people around us ready to mob them! Even at 2 or 3 in the morning, in some remote corner of Chennai, we had people surrounding us. Half the time was spent controlling the crowd. Still, we did not exchange shooting outdoors with anything else.
