Naalu Pennungal is the cinematic interpretation of four short stories by the Jnanapith award winner, Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai. The film was mainly shot in Kuttanad where all the characters were based. The stories are shown in a chronological order starting from the middle of 1940s to 1960s.
