Catching up with Katrina

And newcomer she definitely is, despite the industry already trying hard to scrutinise. "This is my third film. I mean, really, Sarkar was just a guest appearance, and one of the other films was a comedy which did okay," she says, referring to her film with boyfriend Salman Khan, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya.

"So it's a bit unfair to start thinking about why I haven't succeeded 'yet.' This one, for example, is a hugely important film, and that's because there's a lot resting on my character. The girl is as important to the story as the guy, which is a big deal when it comes to Hindi cinema."

So when Katrina talks success, what does she mean? Is the box office important? "Sadly, yes it is. You have to see how many people the film reached; is anyone watching the film? That's crucial. And I've started studying my trade guides and box office magazines, to see how well the films are doing. And where. I'm not sure how the film's done in Nizam or Nagpur, but maybe I should know, right?"
