So just how much does a flop hurt? "Oh, a lot,"she winks. "I want to jump off a cliff, overdose on sleeping pills, and not see anyone for a long, long time." She waits for a bit before adding, "But I think I'm getting some 'maturity' in that regard. There are far too many factors for a film not to do well, but I can't absolve myself of the blame."
There are rumours of her being considered for multiple film deals with big corporate houses, a la Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar. "Yeah, but I'm not Hrithik Roshan. I mean, I'm not even going to imagine I'll get the kind of deal where I get to pick my script, my directors, my co-stars and put it together. So for me it makes much more sense to pick out one script at a time."
And just what excites her in a script? Katrina smiles and begins rattling off the obvious, but then pauses. "The fact is, when people come to me with a script that's 'too different' or 'too extreme,' I now tend to be cynical. I'd rather act in a film that's closer to something you can believe. Something real."
"My next films are all different. Anil Sharma's Apne is a family drama; David Dhawan's Partner is a comedy, as is Welcome by Anees Bazmee; and then I'm doing a thriller for Abbas-Mastan." Quite a roster indeed.
Thus Katrina Kaif, raving about her favourite French and Chinese films, sums it all up: "Actually, all I really want is a script where I can add to it. You know, make the character mine."
Good luck, gorgeous.
