From godman to Sivaji's nemesis

Suman took up this challenging role and expectations were high as there was a benchmark -- late NT Rama Rao who had set a high standard with his mythological portrayals.

"I had heard about some of the things NTR did. One has to give up non-veg food and I had to get up at 3.30 am in the morning, have a bath and do a small puja before sitting for the make-up at 5 am.

The make-up would take about four hours. Then I would shoot and have a light nap in the afternoon. I used to live mostly on fruits and used to have one main meal which was light."

Despite the rigorous schedule and not enough sleep, Suman felt he "had a lot of energy."

"For eight months I followed this routine almost every day and I noticed positive vibrations. I felt lighter as a person. I realised there is a power -- unseen mystic power which can do or undo things and man cannot challenge that power. I surrendered completely to God and prayed I should pass the test."
