Working with Rajnikanth
When we met, he enquired about Hyderabad and my family. He was very friendly. But that said, he was ever the consummate professional. Disciplined and punctual as ever, he worked long hours and still made it to the sets at the same time the next morning.
For all his superstar status, he never stepped on anybody's toes. He would never ask for a break nor interfere (barring some mild suggestions). He respects everyone on the sets from the director to the technicians and has never known to insult anyone.
The youngsters in the film industry have lessons to learn from Rajnikanth. He jokes around but he is very down-to-earth. At times, he would call me after the shoot to congratulate me on a shot.
As a matter of fact, I was worried if I had to hit him or speak some powerful dialogues in front of him. But he told me, "Remember you are Adi, the character, and I am the hero. You are not Suman, nor am I Rajnikanth." That helped me.
