Shooting Sivaji
Though I was happy, I was worried that they would send me packing after a few days of shooting. There was an element of uncertainty and it took three days before I finally relaxed.
The first day's scene was in an old building (a court) opposite Rajni. The hero loses a case against me and I had to say some strong dialogues in front of Rajnikanth. There were about 500 junior artistes in the background. After I did the take, and Rajni came to me and said, 'Welcome back to Tamil.'
We shot in Pune, Delhi and Bangalore.
Role play
I had to shoot with no make-up. Only my hair was jelled. At times, I had to display anger with my dark glasses on and no dialogue. I could convey them only through eyebrows and facial expressions.
Throughout the film you will see me wearing white. I play a character who struggled to come up in life, so you will find some rough edges to him. The character is like any top businessman today.
He is 'clean' but somewhere, he makes mistakes. It was certainly a different role. People cannot expect Suman in that role. I felt nothing wrong in doing the negative role as Sivaji is in the hands of a good director.
