Meet Simran's hero

How tough is it to play a baddie on screen?

Since baddies are louder and usually express themselves more, playing a baddie is relatively easier.

My efforts has always been to look different from the stereotyped villains. I have also made up my mind to do subtle kind of baddies who emote with the eyes and minimal body language.

Actors sometimes carry their characters back home. Is it true for you?

(Laughs) Luckily, not yet. Or else I would have been landed myself in trouble by now. Jokes apart, I have been doing characters with varying shades in most of my films.

Meesa Madhavan had me doing the wily inspector Eapen Pappachi which was followed by the role of Dr Arun, the soft-spoken doctor who commits suicide in Mizhi Randilum. After doing the brash Komban Kumaran in Chanthupottu, I did the comic Romeo Pious in Classmates. All this means that I was never really doing the villainous roles in succession.

You seem to share a great equation with director Lal Jose?

Arabikkadha is the sixth film with Lal Jose. We are good friends and share a good chemistry. I am very comfortable working with him. Some of my best performances were from his films.
