Meet Simran's hero

Is there rivalry between you and your brother Prithviraj?

Absolutely not. On a professional front, we are two different actors. My efforts have always been to put in the best performance and I am not really concerned about the characters that others play.

Do you feel let down when Prithviraj plays the hero in a film in which you are doing a supporting role, like Classmates, for instance.

Classmates gave me a different role, which I had never done before. I have done the tough guy role that Prithviraj essayed, the negative role that Jayasurya did and also the romantic guy that Narain attempted.

But I had never done a comic character before. Let me make one thing clear, the length of the character has never been my concern. Though my character in Pattalam was there for only fifteen minutes or so, I was still noticed. Of course, if I am offered a hero's role, which I think I can perform convincingly, I will do that for sure.

What is your goal in life?

I would like to be known as a good actor. My idol has always been Tom Hanks. Everyone respects him and he has been my inspiration. So, yes, you could call that my goal in life.

Which are your forthcoming films?

Arabikkadha and Heart Beats are being wrapped up now while shooting for Kanvettathu is soon to start. Santosh Sivan's English project Road to the sky is also premiering soon.
