Meet Simran's new hero

How is your role in Heart Beats different from the earlier ones?

There is romance in this film, but it's different from the usual kind of romance that we have seen. Though the story is about some students, it is not a typical campus story.

I can't reveal more as it is a thriller and more details could hamper the suspense value. All I can say is Heart Beats is different from my other films in the story line, treatment and presentation.

You started off your career as a villain in Ooma penninu uriyaada payyan while your brother Prithviraj was a hero. Was that a deliberate move?

Not really. I was offered to play the villain first and I accepted it. (Smiles) Of course, if it was a hero, I would have accepted that too. I am always trying hard to prove myself as a good actor. It was my priority then and it is my primary concern even now. More than aspiring to become a big star, I want to make people notice that I am a good actor and of course, it is never an easy thing to do. I want to do different kind of roles.

Soon after Ooma penninu uriyaada payyan, I did Meesa Madhavan, which also had me doing a negative character. I never felt uncomfortable performing all that. Since then I have done 28 films with positive, negative, supporting and comic characters. I sincerely hope that after the variety roles that I have done in these films, the viewers now look forward to me as a nice actor.
