One of the most enjoyable films of the year is also a sad story about the price some people pay for their success. The musical about three Detroit singing sensations has a surprisingly strong performance by Eddie Murphy as a self-destructive singer.

Murphy tops Jamie Foxx but the real star is newcomer Jennifer Hudson who gives a sensational performance as a dumped diva, far outshining pop superstar Beyonce Knowles.
