Were you disappointed with the performance of Chinnodu at the box office?
I felt that the time of release was unfortunate. There were floods in some parts of the State, which took a toll. But producers were happy as the movie recovered the cost. I'm reasonably happy that this happened.
You have played soft, romantic roles and tough action ones. What about playing grey shades?
I am open to every kind of role. I would love to play a character with shades of grey. I wish somebody would get me a film like that. In fact, I told writers to get me such a film. There was a role that I really liked... it was that of a bad guy and I was prepared to do it. However, the project was shelved. People consider roles with grey shade to be risky. But I am sure it's a matter of time before such films are made. One can't be doing the same thing over and over again.
Would you want to try doing a thriller or a comedy?
In fact, the movie I am shooting for (Classmates) has elements of a thriller. It's a love story about student politics mixed with a murder mystery. Whenever Sunil and I are together there is a comic interaction. Madhumasam has subtle comedy. There are some smart one-liners too.
