'I'm open to any kind of role'

Sumanth is back with Madhumasam -- a feel-good love story slated for release soon.

Life has been hectic for this Telugu actor. For the past few months, he's been shooting for both Madhumasam as well as Classmates (the Telugu remake of the Malayalam hit of the same name.)

Radhika Rajamani caught up with him for a chat.

How different is Madhumasam as a film? You play a character who doesn't believe in love.

It's not a new kind of story. Many movies have been made in this genre. My grandfather's Bharya bhartalu, Venkatesh's Pavitrabandham and Vijayabhaskar's Swayamvaram are in the same genre. The character is today's youth -- a practical guy, who is detached from sentiments and emotions.

Sneha plays the girl who wants to be married to a guy who is head over heels in love with her. Parvati Melton is the 'fast' girl. There is no love interest between the hero and her. Her character is perhaps not seen in Telugu cinema -- normally it's the other way round. What is different in Madhumasam is the dialogue -- there is a bit of English and Hindi woven in. The character is a smart Alec and has a brash and classy attitude.
