You had an entire Marathi crew working in a Tamil film.
Yes. Nobody knew a single word of Tamil, except for the actors. But they came here and learnt the language in one and a half months.
We finished the film that was scheduled for 45 days in just 27 days!
How did Nishikant shift the milieu from Marathi to Tamil?
That was where I came in because I knew both noth the languages well. We sat for 15 days and I wrote all the dialogues in Tamil. So, I am the dialogue writer of Evano Oruvan.
Whenever I faced any confusion, I would call Seeman (who is a director and also acts in Evano Oruvan) and he would help me out.
How was the experience of working under Nishikant, the director?
He is a master director. I have never worked in a set up like this. We would start shooting on the dot. There was no yelling, no screaming; there was silence on the sets all the time.
In a soft voice, Nishikant would tell me what to do and the camera would roll. Even if he worked in a crowded street in Mumbai or a railway station in Chennai or a crowded market, the amount of control and silence was the same. The unit did everything marvellously well.
