Meet Kamal Haasan's biggest fans

To kick start their campaign, members met at Bangalore's Ulsoor Lake on August 18, and had an informal chat. Around 20 members turned up at 4 pm sporting specially made T-shirts featuring their star on the front and back.

"Our group is not part of the main Kamal Haasan Fans' Association based in Chennai. We are a separate entity and want to do our bit for his popularity," said Raghav, one of the boys at the meeting. "We are awaiting the release of Kamal Haasan's Dasavatharam (November 2007), where he plays ten roles -- something no actor has attempted. On the day of release, we will have an eye camp and blood donation camp, using the money earned through the sales of T-shirts."

So, what is a Kamal fan like? They describe themselves as completely different when compared to fans of that other superstar down South, Rajnikanth. Strange, but true, no day is complete for these boys unless they dedicate at least six hours to Kamal Haasan. Each spends two hours online, either surfing or chatting with other fans. Watching a Kamal movie every night is compulsory. They have the star's movies on their computer hard drives, and make it a point to watch at least one scene from a Kamal movie daily. Apart from this, their caller tunes, ring tones and screen savers are all Kamal-related.
