The Kannada film industry is currently going through an awful slump. One of the few upcoming bright spots is Thangigaagi, featuring Darshan, a leading man who commands a huge opening for his films.
What makes the film special? It is a remake of Tamil blockbuster Tiruppachchi, and a lot rides on the shoulders of the leading man. Kannada distributors apparently have a saying that 'if Darshan holds a sword or sickly in a film, the producers and distributors can hold the baton of success.'
While the saying enjoys an uncanny success rate, Thangigaagi goes a step further: not just does Darshan hold a sword in the film, but his character owns a factory that manufactures swords. Beat that, lady luck!
