P C Sreeram: Ready for Bollywood

What Bachchan did was not different from what Sivaji Ganesan or Kamal Haasan contributed to scenes. "I worked with Ganesan in Thevar Magan (left), when he was at the fag end of his career. By watching him from behind the camera, I understood why he was a legend. Bachchan is another legend of Indian cinema."

Sreeram continues, "When I thought Amitabh Bachchan was one of the last breed of good actors, I saw Paresh Rawal. He was simply phenomenal in Cheeni Kum. I see a lot of very good actors in Hindi now. I think that is because they come from the stage."

Another person he was bowled over by was Zohra Sehgal "It was amazing to watch her from behind the camera. She is 95 years old, but her energy is unbelievable. She has given a stunning performance. When she starts saying the dialogues, you cannot do anything but listen to her. That is the kind of magnetism in her voice."

He was also impressed by the film's art director. "She is from South Africa and is very good. The story is happening in London but we have recreated the city in Mumbai. I make it a point to work with my art directors very closely, as lighting is dependant on art work. The team for the film, I feel, is very good."
