Making Urmila, Aamir, Hrithik dance!

Jaan mein dum

It’s technically the best song I have done till date. We shot in about ten locations -- the sand dunes of Rajasthan, on the road, at Shakti Mills and Pavan Hans in Mumbai, at the India Pakistan border…

The song is very strong. It’s like a five-minute film. After this, I got offers from abroad as well. There are sequences like the pillars catching fire, which we shot in an old mill. The mill was so weak that the slabs were falling. It was quite scary. It was also raining at the time.

We then shot on 16 bikes, at the border. I was in a helicopter. And we could even hear the tanks!

When we shot at the sand dunes, Vivek Oberoi would stand alone, while we would reload the camera and refuel the chopper. We could not have people on the ground, as the footprints would be seen. We would drop him on the sand, and shoot the sequence. The minute he would see us, he would start performing and we would start rolling the camera. There was no communication between us.

Vivek was a dancer in my group for two and a half years before he got into films. He was under my supervision most of the time for his shows. He got a lot of yelling from me. He even cried once. But he’s very dedicated.
