Mohanlal is Major Mahadevan

Did you undergo any commando training?

The world of films is make believe. Major Ravi, the director, was a commando and some other commandoes who worked with him are also present in the film. So, they enacted the scenes for us. Actually, we have used the real duration of 3-4 minutes of an encounter, as well as real weapons. For the sake of the film, we have not changed the timing. Another thing Major Ravi did was to make sure all action was authentic.

Is the movie bilingual?

We shot it in Malayalam, and I think they are going to dub it into Tamil too. But, in the film, we speak in English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil.

Was the entire film shot in Kashmir?

No. There is a tragedy in Major Mahadevan's life that happens in Kerala, and he recollects those events while he is in Kashmir. Those scenes were shot in Kerala. Similarly, the young Havaldar Jayakumar, who plays my buddy in the operation, is from Tamil Nadu. The scene of his marriage was shot in Tamil Nadu.

Your career spans more than 25 years. Would you call this a different experience?

It definitely is.
