Mohanlal is Major Mahadevan
Wearing the army uniform and acting as a Major in a place like Kashmir -
what was that like?
It cannot be explained. You are in uniform from the minute you wake up. I can't explain what I felt when I got into it. I felt proud about getting a chance to act as an army officer.
Could you understand them and their lives better after the film?
Definitely. I cannot say how much more I respect and love army personnel. Not just the army, my respect for the Border Security Force, the police and all those who are fighting terrorism every day, has increased tremendously. These people are licensed to kill, but terrorists kill people without any
license. Yet, you see the same kind of commitment in both of them. The sufferers are ordinary people caught between the army, police and terrorists. That is what our film is all about.
Could you meet the local people and interact with them?
No. We never went out of camp as it was said to be dangerous. But I could talk to some locals who came to act in our film. What I understood is that they do not support terrorists. They say that, along with their children, are suffering. Their children can't study in schools and they live in constant fear. Who would like to live such a life?
