Meet Superman!

Do you have a personal connection with the character -- does Superman mean something to you?

It means a lot to me. I think I was touched at an early age by Superman. I think all young kids were and still are. I was born in 1979 (October 9), a year after the original movie was out, and there is a picture of me in my mom's arms -- I must have been six or seven months old -- in Superman pyjamas!

I was greatly influenced when I first saw the film, and I saw it again on television although I didn't carry it over into reading the comics -- but I think the character was always with me, so it was easier for me to tap into the character, and the energy. I knew instinctively what he meant to me, and to the world.

He is an amazing character because he is so inspirational, so positive and so open, and aware of the world; he doesn't care who you are, what you look like, what you believe, he will help you out anyway. The fact that the whole world is united under Superman, that the character has transcended America, where he was created by the children of immigrants, I think that's great -- Superman is really the ultimate immigrant.
