Telugu cinema's outsider returns

July 27, 2006
You are directing a film after quite some time.

Exactly 10 years ago, Little Soldiers, the film I wrote and directed, was released. For a few years after that film, I was in a financial mess. Then I wrote this script which was ready in December 1999. It took me so long to get people to believe in and back the project.

You dabbled in many things before becoming a filmmaker. Do you think you have found your calling?

This was always my calling. I was in banking or advertising or designing greeting cards because I didn't know how to break into films and had to work for a living. Cinema was always my dream and I was ever moving towards that goal, though at a snail's pace.

How passionate are you about films?

This is what I'd love to do all my life, day-in and day-out.

Have you thought about your future projects?

My dream project is Abhimanyu's story in Mahabharat. I plan to make it in Telugu and English.
