The man who makes Rani glow

Rani plays a wife who's a bit on the boring side. She has impeccable hair because she's the kind of person who wants everything in order. My brief was she should look glamorous, but not fashionable. Preity Zinta plays the fashionable part, as she is the editor of a fashion magazine.
So Rani is more classic; Preity, more stylish.
We achieve the classic look by not playing on the skin texture too much. Matte is classic. So, you can put her in any time slot and the look would work. Preity's hair and make-up, on the other hand, is more contemporary.
We have kept Rani simpler, except for the romantic songs. She is more understated as far as make-up is concerned. She doesn't use bright colours on her mouth or eyes. We have kept her eyes dark, but not as dark as they were in Chalte Chalte.
