The man who makes Rani glow
August 10, 2006
The rapport between Karan and I has been great. He shows a lot of interest in the way his heroines are depicted, and discusses the look a lot. But he also gives you space.
He has only one brief for me: Whether my heroine is dying, crying or happy, she has to look beautiful at all times. How you interpret that, tone it down during emotional scenes or bring it out during the romantic scenes, is up to you.
Earlier, Karan would ask me to do the look and show it to him. Most often, he has liked what I've done. After working together for so long, he has enough confidence to let me do what I think is best.
Interestingly, Karan hates curly hair. He likes his heroines to have straight hair. But, for KANK, I told him we had to make Rani look different. I have finally managed to open up her face completely.
It's not difficult to break through to Karan, there are just two things he likes -- his heroines should look glamorous, and the hair should be straight.
