Kaal
The plot: Four people get lost in a jungle where man-eating tigers have been killing people in very unusal ways. Kaal was touted as a film with a message: wildlife conservation.
The controversy: The Supreme Court issued notices to the film's producers, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, and the Centre on allegations that the film was shot in locations deep within the Jim Corbett National Park, Uttaranchal, in violation of the Wildlife Act. The petitioners also alleged the movie violated the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Bose - The Forgotten Hero
The plot: Shyam Benegal's movie is about how noted freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose raised the Indian National Army to oust India's British colonizers.
The controversy: A group of researchers claimed there was no proof that Netaji was married to Emilie Schenkl, as shown in the movie. Protesters from West Bengal also objected to the suffix of the title, The Forgotten Hero. They felt it was inappropriate for a man of Netaji's stature.
