Tara Sharma

How did you get the role?

I like the work Madhurji had done before, therefore I wanted to be a part of it. Madhurji contacted my secretary, and we went to meet him. He narrated the story, I liked it and immediately said yes. The whole concept appealed to me and somebody making a movie on it fascinated me. My role, in terms of quantity, is not large but I found it quite interesting and substantial. I was drawn to it and wanted to work with Madhurji. He is a fantastic director!

My Character:

I am one of Konkona's flatmates, Gayatri Sachdeva, a struggling actor, a small-town girl dreaming of making it big. This is quite a grey film and my character is the kind who'd love to be on page 3. She goes through a lot of things like the casting couch etc.

Lots of people have said it's a good performance, but now that I've seen the film, I will be honest: I am not happy with myself and I still feel I have a long way to go. People who know me know I'm very different from the character, but I've been natural. In the film I appear scared and shy, but in reality I'm quite a strong person. So in that respect, it came across well.

Koko (Konkona Sensharma's nickname), Sandy (Sandhya Mridul) and I became really good friends. After Page 3, Koko and I are working on another movie called Amavas, and this real friendship comes across in that film also. Our friendship is one of the most wonderful things that happened because of Page 3. The film involved a lot of shooting at night, and a lot of partying, which got a bit exhausting!

Forthcoming films:

A horror film -- Amavas -- with Konkona, Mahesh Manjrekar, Victor Banerjee and Neena Gupta, a comedy -- Khosla Ka Ghosla -- starring Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Parveen Dabas, and then there's Dev Anand's Mr Prime Minister.
