In fact, the director of Bose, Senthilkumar, had planned a love story initially but scrapped it later to make an action film.

Srikkant was thrilled when he was asked to play a Black Cat commando and not a cop. "There are not many Tamil films made on Black Cat commandos. The idea excited me. I felt so ecstatic when I wore the uniform. Major Ravi was always with me to guide me."

"I also met IPS officer Shailendra Babu and the Special Force for guidance," he adds. "I practiced the work-outs from the CD they gave me. I went to some camps and trained with the special force but that was only for a short duration. But without Major Ravi, I don't think we could have made an authentic film like Bose."

Then, Srikkant had to look tough. "This time, I wanted to wipe off that softness from my face. I had worked on my physique earlier for my action films, but my soft face made me look vulnerable, or so the critics say. Maybe that's because I am young and not mature enough. So I worked hard on my expressions and body.

"In Jhoot, because of my muscular body, I looked broad. This time, I worked out a lot and lost weight to have a lean, strong look, but not very muscular. I practiced the stern expressions that commandos perpetually wear on their faces."
