My life totally changed when the promos of Prem Aggan came out. Suddenly, my cousins wanted to be actresses; people started seeing me differently and having expectations from me; the media was asking me what my philosophy of life was. I had no idea how to answer that! I was not prepared for this sudden stardom. I was only 19.
Prem Aggan didn't do well, but I got recognition. I got written about. But I don't think I understand the business of showbiz. I was not prepared for this kind of life. I didn't meet up with producers; I didn't go for parties and wasn't seen anywhere.
I was prepared for the fact that Prem Aggan could flop. So when it bombed, I could handle it. Of course, no one thought it would do so badly.
In 2000, I did Hari Bhari with Shyam Benegal. Then I did Vadh with Nana Patekar. It was a good role but during the making of the film, a lot of changes were made. The director changed, my role changed and then, the whole film changed. I wanted to work with Patekarji. That was the only thing that prompted me to work in the film. In between films, I did plays and toured with my mother.
