Sadhana and Rajendra Kumar

1963
The Muslim social. It dies early, but the stereotypes it gives birth to live on: The bearded patriarch; the couplet-a-minute Urdu poet; the burkha-clad beauty. The poet falls in love with the beauty. So does the villain. The villain seems to win -- thanks to financial pressure mounted on the nawab who is the beauty's brother.
Sepia
Two people in a big hurry. Collision. Girl's books scatter on the campus grounds. Boy apologises furiously. As they mumble embarrassed apologies, they fall in love. Don't groan! Mere Mehboob opens with an original scene that has been done to death ever since.
Uncut
Rajendra Kumar is the Jubilee Star. His musicals are so popular in the sixties that almost all have a jubilee run!
