Meanwhile, Ed Adkins, Las Vegas Convention Center safety co-ordinator, who has seen the last four editions of the show at the venue, said the crowd is smaller this year.
Smaller vendors are fewer.
"Times are difficult. People are not spending. Texas Instruments, which had taken a huge area last year, has taken three rooms, down from 10,000 square feet to 400 square feet booth space," Adkins said.
Even the ailing Yahoo Inc, who had the widget engine for televisions to show off, had to do with some rooms.
"We have tied up with Sony, LG and Samsung for our widget engine to be launched in spring," Yahoo's Senior Engineering Manager Bryan
Mayes said.
