They make music on PCs sound better

April 25, 2008
When compared with the Altec Lansing XT1 speakers, Logitech's AudioHub loses steam. Hook up the Altec Lansing speakers and the whole package pulsates quality.

The bass from the songs, especially from a set of 2.1 speakers is very impressive. The speakers have something called 'quality bass', a technology that allows great bass from speakers, without a woofer.

For the USB-powered XT1, the mid-range and treble response is excellent, making for top-notch voice quality. After all, these are the same drivers in Altec's FX6021 satellites and the various inMotion products. The XT1 may not get very loud, but it's one of the more sonically accurate portable speakers.

Factor in a robust accessory bundle that includes a reinforced carrying case and a nifty pair of high-quality braided and retractable USB cables, and the XT1 looks attractive enough at a retail price of Rs 5,500.
