AN EYE FOR BUSINESS: Actor Suniel Shetty holds 20 per cent equity in the company, and is its chairman. Always a businessman, Shetty has had numerous ventures before this, ranging from restaurants to clothes boutiques and even a water-sports entertainment company.
His involvement in the latest venture is complete, he says.
"I have been working on this for quite a few months and am involved at every stage. My involvement is much more than my stake in the company," he declares. "Ask me any detail and I will be able to answer your questions," he adds.
Shetty says that Shades will have 15-20 standalone showrooms in the first year and nearly 50 in the second.
A connoisseur of sunglasses, he himself, owns over 100 pairs and is partial to his Oakleys. Now, though, he refuses to play favourites. "I am retailing all the brands so I will promote all of them equally rather than tell you which I like more," he says.
