Bridal bootcamp: Get in shape for your wedding

November 17, 2008
To-be brides this wedding season, congratulations! Here is an exercise regime that is sure to have you look stunning on D-Day! Bridal boot camp combines cardio and toning exercises to help you burn off the extra kilos and tone and firm up your muscles. You will have a figure to flaunt, whether it is in a lehenga or a hot cocktail number!

You will need:

  • A pair of 2 kilo and 3 kilo dumbbells
  • A mat
  • A mirror to watch yourself work out

    Burn the fat!

To burn off the excess fat or even small amounts of flab you need to perform cardiovascular exercises five to six days of the week for a 30-minute duration minimum, working at brisk intensity. Pick an exercise of your choice like walking, swimming, cycling, aerobics, or kickboxing (aerobics style). Please note: Dance classes are not equivalent to a workout. You can also do a combination of these to keep your body challenged and prevent boredom. Remember to always start with a 5-6 minute warm-up and finish your session with cooling down for another 5-6 minutes, followed with a few stretches. This is very important for the body, so don't skip it!

Benefits: Fat loss, improved stamina, lowered stress levels, glowing skin, strong lustrous hair and beautiful nails!

    Tighten and tone!

While the cardio workouts are burning off the fat layer, exercising with weights will firm up your muscles, giving your body great shape and posture. All these boot camp exercises require no fancy equipment, are easy to do at home and take no more than 20 minutes!

The workout regimen elaborated upon in the following pages is to be performed on alternate days.
