'I was unable to have sex with my wife for two months because of stress'

May 16, 2008

mimi asked, My husband left me for another woman who ,in turn has been left by her husband for another woman. I feel she is in the revenge mode of operation. However, she has divorced her husbsnd and upto grab my huaband. My husband does not realise the trick ! What your suggestion?

Love Guru answers, Mimi, if your fool of a husband cannot see it and has left you, his wife, for this woman, there's nothing you can do about it. Don't tolerate his cheating ways -- walk out on the marriage and take half his property with you!

luv asked, Hi love guru A few days back i asked you a question bout my GF and me that now she dont want to marry me as our parents are not ready. At that time u replied that after marriage i should keep her away from home and should take a new home for ourself but i wanna say that i am the only son of my family and they rely on me for my support ... so that will not work as i have to help them also and also they are not saying anything against her... but she s now saying that she will not live with my family.........i m tired LG and confused what to do.... please help me out....

Love Guru answers, Hi there. Look, if your parents are not ready for your marriage to her, I can understand her not wanting to live with them -- she doesn't feel comfortable around them or wanted. That being said, I can perfectly understand your point -- you are the only son, tey are your parents and you have a duty towards them. Can you not sell this house your parents live in and buy two smaller houses side by side? That way your girlfriend will have her privacy and you'll be able to be with your parents and love and support them as much as possible. If she says no to that, dump this overly selfish girl!

sakhu asked, hi i m sakhi & married with a wonderful husband and have 2 cute kids. however since last 1.5 years, i could see my husband has started gambling and has lost a lot of money almost more 2.5 lacs rupees. as a middle class family, this amt is quite huge for me. i m sure he does not have any extra-marital affairs but he is in any bad company. due to money matters we are having almost every day clashes and i have reached to an extent that i wish to take my kids out and stay away from him as i have to consider my kids' future, their studies and other needs. at the same time i m also afraid that my kids will lose his other parent. I just can't think to go some one, express my feelings and ask for advice. Pl. advise.

Love Guru answers, Why don't you ask your in-laws for help? And your own parents? With pressure from the whole family to stop gambling, your husband may stop this bad habit. You may consider taking him to a psychologist for help if you think he's overly addicted to it. If you feel like he's too far gone and really want to leave him because you have no choice, go ahead. It's better for your kids to have less contact with a parent who is into such bad habits.

Daniel asked, I love a girl & want to marry her,I'm also well settled financially. But how i tell/convinece her that i want to marry her? i'm just little puzzled to whom should i tell her father or to her and how? Pls advice.

Love Guru answers, Depends. If she's from a conventional, reserved family you may consider approaching the father. If her family is open-minded and doesn't mind their daughter dating, you could ask her out.

whattodo asked, Dear I love a girl a lot and always knew that she was into a relationship earlier and that she was going to get married to him. I knew that they were very close. But this girl who I was going to marry hid the fact that she was physically involved with this guy. I got to know it from others and now she has confirmed it. She says that she was afraid of loosing me. I now feel so cheated as I had repeatedly asked her that whether she has told me all the truth. She used to say yes and that very strongly. I was going against my parents wish to marry her. What should i do now? Should I leave her? She says that she is very sorry. What should I do? Somewhere in my heart i still love her? Is she cheating me love guru? I am so confused. Sometimes I feel like killing myself.

Love Guru answers, Oh, my! No talk of killing yourself over such things, please! Life is too precious! Now listen. I'm sure this girl wanted to tell you the truth but was afraid you would leave her. And your reaction to this has confirmed that what she feared was possible, right? Don't break it off. Tell her that you are hurt and upset not because of her relationship with her ex, but because she lied to you. In a relationship, always be honest, especially about the past. Tell her to tell you the truth once and for all, about everything in her past. And then forget about it, because it is in the past, after all. She has never done anything with another man to hurt you, it was before she met you and she was going to marry him.

suresh asked, Hello Love Guru, I am married & we have completed 1yr in last month but i never enjoyed a good relation with my wife neither a sex life, Please help.

Love Guru answers, You need to sit her down and have a heart-to-heart talk with her. I'm guessing it's an arranged match, but since you are now together try to give your married life a real try. Talk about it with her -- get to know each other, enjoy each other's company, learn to love each other and compromise, most importantly. Try to give in to each other as much as you can.

Shekhar asked, Hi love Guru, I am 35, married for 7 years and have we have had a normal sex life. Recently, I went through a period of around 2 months when I was unable to have erections. I could not identify the problem, perhaps, it was because of some intense work in my office which was mentally tiring, although mine being a desk job, I was fine physically. Over the days, the fact that I have not been able to have sex bugged my mind and I even found it difficult to break the jinx. Finally, things somehow got normal and now I am back to normal sex life. Is it normal to have this temporary period of impotence? Is it something I need to be worried about or see the doctor?

Love Guru answers, Shekhar, I'm not very qualified to comment on sexual dysfunction -- you need to talk to a professional about that -- but I do know that a lot of men go through what you've gone through because of stress and long working hours. In any case, it doesn't seem like something you should be very worried about, but if you think your mind will be more at ease, go see a doctor.

Love Guru says, That's it for today, folks! If I haven't answered you, please mail me at mailtheloveguru@rediffmail.com and I'll get back to you! Till next week, take care!
