'Love sucks -- BIGTIME!'

May 16, 2008
Are you at your wits' end trying to save a relationship?

Can't seem to pick up and move on in life after heartbreak?

In a chat with Get Ahead readers on May 15, the Love Guru addressed many such problems. For those of you who missed it, here's the transcript.

Love Guru says, Hello there, lovers! Welcome to the Love Guru chat! Let's get cracking at those relationship problems!

siddharth asked, hi, m in a serious relationship from last around 10 months. But since i came to know that my gf masturbates since she was 14, i have started doubting her... please help

Love Guru answers, What have you started doubting? So what if she masturbates? You probably have been doing so yourself since your teens! She was honest with you and for that you want to leave her? Narrow-minded and biased, if you ask me! At least she hasn't been sleeping around since she was 14!

aakash asked, hi love guru i am married since 2 years and now am facing lots of hass;les with my suddenly she tells me now she wants to leave me for my basic nature i am possessive impatient and vvery protective abt her and she wants to be totally independent please help i love her too i dont want my house to break pls help pls help

Love Guru answers, If you are so desperate to make your marriage work you should be able to curb your behaviour! Remember that your wife is an individual just like you -- let her lead her life the way she wants to! Both of you will be happy! Insecurity and possessiveness are the trademarks of a weak person who cannot allow other people to be themselves! Don't fall into that category!

princess asked, Hi love guru, I’m a Hindu gal n who loves Muslim guy from last 6 years, we truly love each other, but Due to some reason his family rejected me and said no for are marriage. They are working in same deptt. and they don’t want any issue because they know inter-religion marriage cause harm to society. My bf tried to convince his family but they said no. According to him he has given his efforts now his parents are searching for a girl. N they want to engaged before this June. My bf is well-settled and only son in his family. Now please suggest what to do. As I belong from very conservative family where I m always stressed and failure of love relation is killing me day by day. I can’t see my bf with someone else…I want to leave this world before he leaves me. Please suggest me

Love Guru answers, Why doesn't your boyfriend stand up to his family? He's okay with the idea of having to spend the rest of his life with a girl his parents choose over you? Do you want to be with a man who can't stand up to his own parents for your sake? Think this over carefully -- only if he's willing to be with you at all costs and you are willing to do the same, should you pursue this relationship. And don't talk of ending your own life! Be strong and overcome what life deals out to you with dignity!

SEEMA asked, DEAR LOVE GURU, MY HUSBAND IS HAVING A LOT OF FREINDS (GUYS) MOST OF THE TIME HE IS BUSY WITH THEM ON PHONE, WHENEVER HE IS AT HOME HIS FREINDS CALL HIM AND THAN HE LEAVES HE GOES DOWN, HE NEVER SAY NO TO ANY ONE. AND MOST OF THE TIME HE IS ON PHONE WHICH REALLY IRRITATES ME MAINLY WHEN HE ON TALKING TO HIS FRIEND. HOW TO HANDLE PLEASE HELP.

Love Guru answers, Tell him it's annoying you! Say that as his wife you do have some right to his time as well! It's fine to hang out with friends, but not all the time and at the cost of your family life. Take a stand!

lover asked, hi love guru, i m getting engament on next month with a girl who selected by my family member, and i m in love with her and every time i m thinking about her and we were talking to eachother few days, and she also love me a lot and our thoughts, but we both dont want to loose eachother i.e we make a dicision to not talk more on phone and we are thinking to make it completely arranged, but i feeling very disturb after not getting her call from last few days what i do, please help me

Love Guru answers, Listen, you're getting married. Why the hell do you want to stay away from each other till the wedding? In fact, you should be spending more time together, getting to know each other well! Don't be stupid, it's perfectly fine to talk to and meet each other -- she's your fiance!

xyz asked, hi love guru, i was in frenship wid a gal v everyday used talk 2 each other on fone 4 abt 5 hours or so but then i dint want 2 propose her coz...coz i just dont want 2 b her love but nw when v stopped talkin 2 each other(thts a diff. story) she calls me occasionly but i m ignoring her i dont knw i want 2 tak 2 her but at same time i want 2 concentrate on ma studies i have not been able 2 study

Love Guru answers, It's just a matter of striking the right balance. It's foolish to stop talking to a girl you like just because you want to concentrate on your career and it's also foolish to let your studies suffer because of the girl you like! Study hard for a few hours every day and then talk to her in your free time! Problem solved!

Mahesh asked, I loved my wife at my best but I dont know she always tried to find my and my family's faults. She is now staying with her parents from last three months. Big mistake is we are having a small kid so I do not want to take any serious decision. What to do yaar

Love Guru answers, If she's not getting along with your family, Mahesh, I would suggest you and your wife get a place of your own. Sometimes nobody is really behaving badly, it's just that your wife can't get along with your family in the same house and vice versa because of different ways of life and clashing personalities. I would strongly suggest your wife and you both compromise on certain matters and make your marriage work for the sake of each other and your child.
