After the previous days leopard sighting Anil (our guide) too was desperate to spot a tiger. Our open gypsy started rolling into the park. We stopped after a short distance.
Greater Flameback, a big golden woodpecker with a red crest was flying restlessly from one tree to another making it very difficult for us to click a picture.
However we were adequately rewarded when we saw a big peacock sitting on a tree branch in royal style.
Some distance away we saw a herd of loitering bison, popularly known as Indian gaur.
Suddenly a peculiar sound punctured the silence. It was an alarm call by the cheetal. Anil whispered to the driver to move towards that direction.
As we moved ahead we could hear the cheetal calling out at regular intervals. We saw fresh pugmarks of the big cat and decided to stop and wait near a meadow hoping to spot the tiger.
However luck was not with us and our prolonged wait proved to be futile.
