'Luck has nothing to do with success'

Although his story reads as a major success, Hital has seen his share of struggle as well. "In my early days at Everest, I struggled to meet with my boss Uday's approval," he recollects. "I wasn't born creative, so it was all part of the learning process. He taught me to put as much effort as I could into each assignment. As a result, when Milind took his place as my senior, he saw potential in me and allowed me to handle several video projects, something I enjoyed thoroughly."

Did luck play a role in his success? "Absolutely not! Luck has nothing to do with success. I made my own opportunities, and proved myself through my work. I see opportunities everywhere -- even a brand logo can give you a good idea for a campaign."

Hital has some sound advice for youngsters in advertising, or for that matter, in any field. "Prove yourself through your work and effort. In my opinion, a successful career is 99 percent hard work and maybe one percent luck. Think of it this way -- the harder you work, the luckier you'll get careerwise!"
