Simplicity and commitment

Three years into his career at Everest, Hital was offered a lucrative deal by a Dubai-based agency, Impact BBDO. As a result, he moved to Dubai and into the limelight of the advertising world. "I won my first award -- a London International Award -- in 2004, for an advertisement I conceptualised for Frito Lays potato chips. It was only when I came to Dubai and started working for Impact that my work began to be noticed in this manner."

His opinion as to whether youngsters looking to get into advertising today have it easier than he did a few years ago? "I certainly think so! Today, the kids have different forms of media at their disposal. The Internet and its interactive sites like Youtube give them the means to unleash their innovation and creativity. I think there is a lot of talent out there -- fresh approaches, worthy ideas.

"Most newcomers make lengthy speeches declaring their passion. When it comes to hard work and pressing schedules, however, a majority of them seem to cop out! They don't seem to value their careers as much as they should, I think; at the same time, their self-confidence is not completely unjustified. The creativity and ideation they are capable of never ceases to impress me."
