9. Milk
Talk about conflicting information. First you hear us go on about how healthy milk is
; how it is a great source of protein as well as the best source of bone-strengthening calcium.
And now, it is featured in our 'worst' list as well.
Wait. Did I forget to mention I was talking about whole milk? From your cup of chai to your curd and rice to your lassis, milk makes an appearance in every single household.
While we know whole milk might be tasty and lip-smackingly creamy, it is not a healthy option. A mere cup (145 grams) of whole milk yields a whopping 150 calories, 8 grams of fat and 35 milligrams of cholesterol. The same cup of skimmed milk yields 85 calories, 0 grams of fat and 4 milligrams of cholesterol.
You have the figures. Go ahead, make the change. With the large quantity of nonfat milk, yogurt products, and cheeses in the market, there is no reason for anyone over two years old to drink whole milk anymore.
